Yahoo briefcase is closing!

…just a month to download all your content stored in Yahoo Briefcase!!
Yeah! I logged in to Yahoo Mail after more 2/3 days, this is very unusual but I was on travel so couldn’t check the mails.
Now what I see, the new mail from Yahoo, about the shutting down Yahoo briefcase feature.
I’ve been Yahoo user since I started using internet and I’ve been loyal to them.
Yahoo briefcase was one of the unique feature Yahoo had. No email service provider dot com had this feature available to its users for free. So I am sure there must be plenty of them, old timers like me who had been using Yahoo briefcase.
It’s really sad looking at the Yahoo cutting each of its feather (oops I mean feature)  one by one.
It was Yahoo photos, now it’s Yahoo briefcase

Dear Yahoo! Briefcase user,
We will officially close Yahoo! Briefcase on March 30, 2009. Until then, we are offering you the opportunity to download your files back to your computer. You need to take action before we close, after which any files remaining on Yahoo! Briefcase will be deleted and no longer accessible.

To access your Yahoo! Briefcase account, click the link below:…..

Yahoo used to offer 30MB storage space. I remember email storage rage back when Google introduced GMail. Hotmail was reluctant to offer same storage space as its competitors and hence lost its costomers big time (I was one of them) & now when we see, Windows Live offers 25 GB of storage space (known as skydrive) absolutely free to live ID holders, its sad to see the opposite move from Yahoo.

L K Advani banned on my site

I just re-launced my google ads just below the nav bar. & one thing I did right after lauching it is banned L K Advani’s political campaign on my side. My visitors from India reported that it’s annoying to see L K Advani’s ad on every website which has ads powered by Google Adwords.
It’s very unlikely to encounter this ad if you’re not browsing from India as it’s pretty location specific ad. And it was never published on my blog anyways. But now that I’ve again started google adsense service I made sure that this ad is not on my blog. It seems that BJP/LKA has invested a lot of money in this ad campaign as every second website has this ad irrespective of the content of the site.
It’s nothing about politics, I’m not against BJP or anything, I dont even want to send anti-BJP message through this blog but that ad is just too much. It irritates when you visit any website with Indian content, you see close up photo of Mr. L K Advani; (I know, had it been Angelina Jolie, the brand ambasador of BJP, I would not even have typed this post. 😉 ) & it just dont stop there, you’re most likely going to see spams through emails in your inbox.
Anyways, I already have received many negative reviews about it.
On personal front, my PC is on repairs so I wont be blogging or writing long posts on forums but I’ll be around & keep on tweeting…

Google friend connect

Playing with my blog is my past-time-hobby ( & I must confess I play more, blog less 😉 ).  In past I had made lot of efforts to make this blog more interactive & today I am introducing a new feature in the blog.
Yes, you can see the new box on the right column & see some people already joined it. & did I tell it’s Day 1 of this blog… 😀 (Obviously I asked them to join 😉 ) check this short and quick video to find out what exactly I am talking about:
Google Friend Connect is not just new for my blog but it’s new for the internet. It’s recently launched and has much to evolve. I’ll make it more interactive, may be enable facility to make comments or give 5 star ratings etc. But that depends on how this box grows at this site.
It’s in a way a small online/virtual social networking among the visitors of this site. So what are you waiting for? hit the “Join” button. If you’re a regular visitor, just do it. If you think you’re not gonna visit this site again, just do it leaving your footprints. Yeah, both ways “join” it’s hassle free. Now why I encourage you to join because it needs no-registration. All you need is already-existing-id with one of the big players: GMail, Yahoo or AOL. thats it.
It’s competition to mybloglog but I think google went a step ahead in terms of features, though they launched it later…

Indian IT MBA applicants, Google adsense & more

Some updates from my side.
I am leaving for a special course which will keep me away from cyberspace for 10-15 days. But before I leave I’ll add a new thread on the forums. It’s about Indian IT Males applying for MBA to various b-schools. Check it out in b-school in general section it will be up by tomorrow morning. (Done now. check it: Indian IT Males MBA applicants )
Also there are some changes I have done in my blog layout. I have removed “partner blog” part from the column. Also I have added list of recommended books for MBA preparation. I felt to add it as application season is coming soon it would be beneficial to the readers. I would recommend to buy these books. Some of the books will help you in long run, not only will help you during the application process but also during your actual MBA course. Well! you can check the amazon reviews if you don’t trust me.
And last but not the least: I have removed Google advertisements from this blog. I just said “not the least” right? it’s a big move from my side. I am worried if it hampers my blog writing motivation (?) But what the heck! I have decided to get rid of it.
Back to Indian IT Male thread,
I am looking for the right picture which could convey my message, which is what delaying this thread from its birth. It has made exclusively for Indian IT Males, one of the largest pool of MBA applicants each year who apply to various business schools. The trouble with these fellow applicants is their average GMAT score is higher than their counterparts. Yet they are so out-numbered than any other group of applicants that they are considered to be commons and hence their higher GMAT score doesn’t matter anymore.
Remember your high GMAT score can make you competitive and keep you in the race but lower GMAT score, especially for this group of applicants is detrimental & devastating for their application. Some times I think for Indian IT Males, higher GMAT score is a must, even though, ironically, it doesn’t matter to their profiles. Sorry if I confused you by that, you can post your doubts in that thread. Unfortunately I am not available since tomorrow & I am thus initiating thread and leaving it to our members J who would further take it. I’ll be back in 12 days by 22nd September 2008.
…Till then All the best for application. I know it’s coming close…
PS : I think I’ll start the thread anyways without uploading a picture. Although I still believe that adding a picture would convey my message even more clearly I think it can be added later…

Do you Aim-WSC (?)

Hi there,
Check this out, haahaa
I just changed the title of this blog. (I merged all my blogs now)
Do you Aim-WSC?
It’s the name I chose for myself in some GMAT and MBA related forums couple of years ago and now it’s almost became a synonym for me… though I go by Johny Cage, my identity as aim-wsc is more popular than my name. They’ve nicknamed me as “aim” and now I really check the sentence twice whenever I see that word…Many of my phone calls I answer these days had to attend by aim-wsc and not by Pranav Amrute.
Heck! People actually discussed about my username on “forum trivia” thread!
Aim-wsc has a great potential to grow further in future! (but now I dont endorse that brand)
Watch this space as I’ll be writing more here from now. And make a brand as aim-wsc
I have been doing research on b-schools since ages; and when I joined these online forums, I had shortlisted MBA programs from three top b-schools: Wharton, Stanford, Columbia. Today, though I have chucked the thought of applying to Stanford, ( as I realised that it’s not my kind of school and I dont fit in that MBA program.) , it is still there in my name.
I am loser yet I am aiming high. Do you too aim higher?
Do you Aim-WSC?
If you do, join the squad!
